We had a fantastic time at The Central Oregon Wedding and Event Show! We attended as Central Oregon Weddings but wanted to post the photos on this blog because I can make the photos larger. The Riverhouse Convention Center is the perfect place for an event like this and it was just a great day with hundreds of couples and vendors from all over Central Oregon. We would like to say thank you, thank you, thank you to Laura, Don and Melissa Chick for working so incredibly hard to make this show happen. And of course we want to say thank you to everyone else involved with making this show happen and the amazing wedding and event vendors we have in Central Oregon. It’s going to be a great year!

Wow! There was a little rain on Katie and Nick’s wedding day… You know, there was a lot of rain… Actually, it rained all day, and it was an absolutely beautiful, perfect day! Danielle and Jake had their wedding at McMenamins Edgefield, which is just an amazing place… It has been a favorite spot for us for a long time, but this was the first time we were able to shoot a wedding there. Karen and Scott had a beautiful wedding at their home, a.k.a. Fruition Farm. They love each other so much and are so happy together… It’s so nice just to be around them. Lisa and Brent’s wedding was absolutely beautiful! Garden Vineyards is an amazing place! The weather was perfect and we had such a great time with them! We spent some time with Lisa and Brent shooting their engagement photos back in June and it was so nice to see them again and spend the day with their families and friends. Jill and Jason are just incredibly in love with each other… They are so close and so happy with each other. During the ceremony (and the toasts) I found myself wiping my eyes just to be able to see through the camera. The whole day just made me happy. Jesseca and John are just an amazing couple…  Jesseca lives in Colorado, while John lives in England and there’s definitely been some travel time in their relationship!  Now that they’re married though, they’ll be living in Germany together.  They have such a deep, true love for each other and it was just incredible to see.  We had such a great time with them and what a beautiful day it was out at Sunriver.  Jesseca and John, thank you so much!  Here are some of our favorites…

It was so nice to see Nicole and Bill again! They had their wedding on Nicole’s family’s property just outside of Corvallis. It’s an amazing old dairy farm that sits right above a little river. I have to start by saying this was an unforgettable weekend… We met Jon years ago through our friend Annie (who’s wedding we shot just a month and a half ago) and we met Rachel last year at another friend’s wedding (Leighann and Mark) last September. So we had close friends, perfect Portland summer weather, and the beautiful rooftop of the Ecotrust building downtown. We are so incredibly happy that we were able to celebrate with them. Rachel and Jon, we cannot thank you enough for letting us be a part of your wedding. Rebekah and Tyler’s wedding was an absolute blast!! They have a little son and daughter that are close to the ages of our two girls and we loved seeing them in the wedding. The other night I was able to follow Tim Cash from Far From Earth Films around while he was shooting a music video for the amazing singer/songwriter, Josh Sarles. Josh is up here from Los Angeles to make a couple of videos and let me take some photos for him. The reason I’ve titled this “part one” is because Josh and I have an actual shoot coming up soon so there will be more. It was awesome helping out on the video and here are a few stills I got that night…

Traci and Will had a perfect little wedding in Sunriver, Oregon. Having moved across the country and planned their wedding since we first met them, we are so glad they finally have some time to relax! Traci and Will, thank you so much! We are so glad we were able to spend the weekend with Gabrielle and Trey. They have the most amazing friends and families! I have to say, they all really know how to celebrate too! Thanks for the all-night dance party on Saturday! We loved every minute of your rehearsal dinner and wedding day and cannot thank you enough for letting us be a part of it all. Where do I start… How about back when Julie was in first grade. That’s when Annie and Julie first became friends. They grew up together and when I met Julie in middle school, I met Annie. So we all have a bit of history together. Annie and Russell were already “officially” married but the first time around they had to make it quick because Russell, who is in the Army, had to leave. After many long and hard months without each other, they decided to renew their vows and have the wedding they were never able to have. We spent a three day weekend up in Portland with Annie and Russell and all of their family and friends. It was such a fantastic weekend and it was so nice to see so many people from our past. The celebration was at the McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro, Oregon. The weather was perfect and it was just one of those times in life that you don’t want to end. Annie and Russell, we are so incredibly happy for you both. We can’t tell you how much it meant to us to be such a big part of your day. We can’t wait for all the great times to come! We had a perfect afternoon with Lisa and Brent! We met out at Lisa’s family cabin in Camp Sherman for a few shots with Rio, then came into Bend to walk around downtown for a while. Since this is pretty much the last weekend we have off until the fall, we spent it with some of our best friends out on the lake. The 80 degree weather really helped make it a nice day to be on the water too!

Tim Cash is a filmmaker based in Bend, Oregon. You can see him all over the place, but most recently he was featured on the cover of Central Oregon Magazine. He’s been a good friend of mine for a long time now and wanted a few promo shots for some upcoming projects. Tim is one of those amazingly creative artists that constantly inspire me. Fort Rock, Oregon

Happy Cinco De Mayo!! Today I was thinking about all of the photos we have filling up space on our hard drives… All those photos we take when we’re just shooting for fun. From the times we have our cameras with us and can shoot anything we want to, to random projects, to just a moment in time that we thought looked interesting. So I decided to start posting a “Photo of the Week.” Just one photo, once a week. It might be old, it might be new. It might be my cup of coffee, it might be a person walking down the street, it might be something blurry I shot while driving, or really anything in between. So here goes… Since it’s the first week of the first “Photo of the Week” I thought I’d start with a shot of my beautiful daughter Paige. She was looking at birds through our front window.

We just found out that a shot we took on our trip to the Oregon Coast won first place in Popular Photography Magazine’s “Your Best Shot” competition. I decided to add the D700 in the photo I took of the magazine because it’s such an amazing camera and I’m so glad I had it on our trip!

These are a little late but I thought I’d post a few shots from the 2010 Bravo Wedding Affair.  Bravo did an amazing job with the show and everything looked fantastic!

What a fantastic Saturday we had with Lindsay and Travis! We’d already spent some time getting to know them before the wedding by taking some engagement photos and meeting up for drinks when they would come into town. We just had such a great time at the wedding! Lindsay and Travis, thank you so much for letting us join you and your family and friends, and we can’t wait to hear about your tour around New Zealand! We are so lucky that we were able to celebrate with Jessica and Tyler on their big day. We had such a fantastic time! After weeks of cold, rain, snow and fog, everything just cleared up for their wedding day. It was perfect. Over the past six months we’ve really gotten to know them, from spending an evening shooting engagement photos, to just meeting up for coffee when we all had time. We are so happy when two people who are truly meant to be together actually find each other. Congratulations Jessica and Tyler!! It was so nice to have a weekend up in Portland… We saw friends and family, relaxed a little, and spent an afternoon with Nicole and Bill. Their wedding will be in August at Nicole’s family dairy farm. We cannot wait!! Well… I am finally getting to some personal photos from our annual trip to Cannon Beach.  Every year we like to take a couple of weeks off and hang out around Cannon Beach.  It’s a mixture of celebrating a late anniversary for us, my birthday, and the end of our busy season.  Fall on the Oregon coast is probably my favorite time too.  We had some sun, some rain, and one amazingly intense storm.  It was all around just a fantastic trip.  Here are some of my favorites.  Oh, and there were a lot of birds at our first place for some reason, so there are a lot of photos of birds…

We just picked up the newest Portland Bride & Groom magazine because one of our weddings was featured for the winter issue. It was Marli and Bart’s wedding back in August and we’re so glad they chose this one for their “Real Weddings” section. Their wedding was just a blast!!

Sorry it’s been a while since we’ve posted, but we needed a couple of weeks at the coast after our wedding season! It was an amazing trip and I can’t wait to go through some of our personal photos as soon as we get caught up.

When we came home from our trip we spent the afternoon/evening with Jessica and Tyler. We had a perfect stormy day with a mix of sun, wind, and a little rain. It was just a gorgeous evening. Jessica and Tyler will be married in February and we not only had a fantastic time shooting around Central Oregon with the two of them, but they are just great company to be around. Leighann and Mark are two truly amazing people… When I met them for the first time, which happened to be just about 12 hours after our youngest daughter was born, I felt like I’d known them my whole life. I feel so lucky that we were able to spend the day with the two of them, and all the people close to them. From Mark’s amazing story of proposing to Leighann, to the hula hoops, costumes, and live music, we just had a fantastic time.

I don’t even know where to start… Beautiful property, rain, sun, horses, tent city, dancing, friends, family… Those are just a few of the things that made Cody and Chris’ wedding such an amazing day. These last four images were taken with my Holga camera. If you don’t know, a Holga is a $30 camera with a plastic lens that shoots medium format film. I just love the emotion and character you get with them.

Marli and Bart came from Portland to be married at her parents’ beautiful cabin in Sisters, Oregon.
The cabin has always been a place of retreat for them, and they said they couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Marli and Bart decided to write their own vows, and I must say, they were some of the most eloquent and beautiful words I’ve ever heard. It was an amazing ceremony!

Let me tell you, they know how to party. Their music selection was phenomenal, and since music is such an important part of their lives, Marli and Bart (Barli) decided to integrate it into their reception in a very hands-on way by busting out the mic for a night of karaoke. It was fabulous.

So it’s been a little while since my last post, but a lot has happened. We had a new baby girl and I had a wedding down in Southwest Florida. I haven’t even started going through the images yet, but I did pull out a few while I was backing everything up. I want to thank John and Shelley so much for a fantastic week of sun, fun, swimming, eating, drinking, playing and just having a great time with their families and friends! I also want to thank my amazing friend Jory for coming along and helping me with everything. There is no way I could have done it without him!
